Abstract

Medicines are an important part of human heritage, as they have been used since ancient times to treat diseases and relieve pain. In addition, drugs are the science that studies medical drugs derived from plants and natural sources, i.e. medicinal plants. However, the use of drugs may be associated with side effects that may affect human health, if not used in the correct way in terms of quantity and quality. Thus, this research aims to find the side effects of medicinal drugs in heritage, especially giving an overview of plant drugs in ancient civilizations, and defining side effects linguistically and technically, mentioning the side effects of medicinal plant drugs, side effects in the drug industry, effects resulting from excessive consumption of some medicinal plants, and finally side effects of toxic medicinal plants.
