Abstract

       This research is an analytical study of the role of scholars of the fifth century AH in recording historical events mentioned in the book History of Islam and the Deaths of Famous People and Media Figures by Imam Shams al-Din (d. 748 AH), which is considered one of the most prominent historical works. The research aims to reveal the nature of the contributions of scholars of the fifth century AH in the formation of the historical material on which Al-Zahabi relied and the methodology he followed in employing their narratives to construct a historical narrative of events and how he dealt with their accounts between transmission
