Until recently, many believed that the shrine located approximately 11 km north of the center of the holy city of Karbala belongs to Aoun ibn Abd Allah ibn Jafar al Tayyar (peace be upon him). Through his maternal lineage, he is attributed to Lady Zaynab, the daughter of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali ibn Abi Talib (5-62 AH681-626 / CE).
However, this claim represents a widespread popular misconception with no verified historical basis. It became common among the general public, particularly among visitors to the holy city of Karbala.
