This study examines the rhetoric of narration in Sleeping in a Cherry Field by Azher Jirjis, focusing on its rhetorical structure, particularly irony and figurative imagery. Using an analytical-rhetorical approach, the research explores how the author employs dark irony to expose the tragic contradictions of contemporary Iraqi reality, thereby enhancing the aesthetic and intellectual dimensions of the text. The analysis reveals the dominance of personification-based metaphors in most figurative expressions, serving to intensify symbolism and generate layered meanings
