Natural lighting is an essential element of Islamic architecture, transcending its physical function to become a symbolic and spiritual tool that reflects religious and aesthetic values. However, modern architectural studies of Baghdad's mosques have often focused on the quantitative-functional aspects related to lighting standards and energy efficiency, while rarely addressing the qualitative analytical dimension that explains the symbolic and aesthetic meanings of light in these historic buildings
